Placing pigs:
Weaners and store pigs are placed with finishers we know and deal with regularly. Consistent placements matter more in pigs than in most sectors, because health status and building type decide whether pigs thrive.
What matters?
Health status, weight, numbers and timing. Pigs moving between units of similar health status do better, and that is a large part of how batches are matched.
For producers:
Regular batches placed on a known schedule, so weaners move at the right weight rather than sitting because there is nowhere for them.
Movement licences:
Pig movements are reported electronically through eAML2. The link is on the Livestock Information Hub.
