Meadow Quality markets finished cattle and barren cows to processors across England, Wales and Scotland. Because we are not tied to one buyer, we can put your cattle in front of several and place them where the return and the timing suit you best.
Deadweight or liveweight?
Both routes have their place. Deadweight gives you a known price against a grid before the cattle leave the yard. Liveweight can pay better on cattle that show well or fall outside a processor grid. Your fieldsman will tell you honestly which one your cattle suit.
Hitting the spec:
Most processor grids reward cattle killing inside a target weight and fat class. Getting cattle away at the right point matters more than any other single decision, and it is the one your fieldsman can help you judge on farm.
Barren cows:
Barren cows are a real part of the beef supply and worth marketing properly rather than treating as a clearance job. Condition, cleanliness and timing all move the price.
Paperwork:
Every consignment travels with the correct Food Chain Information form for the processor taking the cattle. All current forms are on the Livestock Information Hub.
