Sourcing breeding stock:
Breeding ewes and ewe lambs sourced by breed, age and region. Buying breeding stock is a longer commitment than buying stores, and it is worth getting right.
What to specify?
Breed, age, numbers and the ground they are going onto. Ewes bought off similar country tend to settle better than ewes moved a long way onto very different ground.
Health:
Ask about vaccination and lameness history, and about any recent movements. A cheap ewe with a problem is not cheap.
Timing?
Breeding stock trade builds ahead of tupping. Telling us early what you want gives us time to find it rather than fill it.
